Why This Site?

I'm the administrator of the Moparstyle web community. In the early 70s, I was in the military as a Motor Pool driver and mechanic. We all in the Motor Pool had our share of muscle cars -- and mine included a 69 Roadrunner, a couple 67 Mustangs, a Duster 340, a GTO, and a Torino GT. We did a lot of street racing and a little Street class racing at the local tracks. In the late 70s, I got married and started a family -- which meant that fast cars and motorcycles were out for a few years.

In the late 80s, I got back into motorcycles and fast cars again, and had a AAR Cuda and an 89 Mustang GT that I'd take to the track on trophy night. However, by the early 90s I'd stopped doing that as business was taking all of my time.

In 2003, I decided I needed to have a dedicated racecar -- so I bought a mid 11 second 65 Dodge Coronet from Big Jim in Phoenix. I was having a blast  with that just playing around, until I went to the 2003 Monster Mopar -- and then I knew my calling was in Nostalgia Super Stock. These are basically the Super Stockers of the early 60s -- as they ran back then.

The reason for the site is that I've had to learn a lot the hard and expensive way -- through trial and error. My observations at the track, are that some others aren't picking it up at all, maybe because they're afraid to ask. It is my desire to reflect on the things I wasn't doing right initially, or have observed others not doing right -- and take some of the mystery out of drag racing. I'm no expert, but I feel like I'm a good student and may be of some assistance to the rookies.

I also like NASCAR racing (although I have only experienced it from the stands and an easy chair) and so I've included some of that on this site. There's no sense leaving out road racing -- so you will find some of that here too. Although much of what you read here is universal for all makes of cars -- the focus will be on Mopars only.

If I have to, I will write every article on this site -- so check back often. However, if you would like to help out and write an article that you feel qualified on -- please use the button below to contact me about what you propose.
