    The Reward

    Psalm 58:11b.....
"There truly is a reward for those who live for God" NLT

The story is told of a newlywed couple. Shortly after they were married they befriended a recovering alcoholic and the woman he was living with. The newlyweds gave them both a job. The new bride spent time with the woman. They shopped together, went to church together and the new bride witnessed to her about Christ. Her husband did likewise in befriending the alcoholic man.

The newlyweds together convinced the couple that getting married was the right thing to do. They even asked their minister to perform the ceremony and offered to open their home for the occasion.

A few days later they found a note tacked to their front door. The man and woman saying that they were leaving town to get away from a hired assassin.

A few months later the minister asked the newlywed couple how they felt about spending so much time, energy and money on the recovering alcoholic and his girlfriend --- only to have the relationship end so suddenly.

Tears welled up in the young bride as she spoke. "No matter where they are or how long they live," she said, "they will always know that somebody cared."

The young couple had loved unselfishly and for them that was reward enough.

Today is a good day to love someone unselfishly as Jesus did expecting nothing in return.

Prayer: Father place someone in my path today who can use the unselfish love as Jesus exhibited. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
