    Default 572-13 flow numbers

I HAVE A PAIR OF 572-13 365 CNC HEADS FOR MY 580" MOTOR.INDY SAYS THEY FLOW 395@.700 399@ .800. I HAD MY SHOP CHECK THEM FOR ME,AND THEY ARE NOT CLOSE.THE SHOP SAID THEY HAVE ALOT OF SWIRL IN THE HIGHER LIFTS.THEY ARE NOT DONE YET BUT THE PRELIMARY NUMBERS ARE 369@ .700 AND 360@ .800.WE ARE GOING TO CHECK WITH INDY TO SEE IF WE ARE MISSING SOMETHING,OR NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.MY CAM WITH 1.7 ROCKERS IS AT .800" I CHANGED FROM 1.55 TO GET MORE FLOW.DID NOT EXPECT THE FLOW TO DROP.DO ANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY REAL WORLD FLOW NUMBERS FOR THEESE HEADS? DO THEESE SOUND RIGHT? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT.

Those numbers are the same as others i have heard for the 572-13. So, no, IMHO, i dont think you are missing anything...other than the CFM Indy said they should be flowing.

Never trust Indy's numbers, EVER! They inflate there numbers big time. Why they do this I do not know. Just one question though, did you have a 4.500" bore fixture on the bench? It will flow a lot more with a bigger bore, so if you tested them with a 4.350" bore fixture they will not flow as well.

im checking on the bore fixture size. i talked to indy, and they gave me some crap about the engine is not steady flow like the bench is .he said the intake air pulses,so advertised flow numbers dont mean much .i swear im not making this sh*t up,thats what they told me!!!!

talked to russ over at indy today.he was zero help. he was very short, and really seemed to care less.i have bought over $40,000 worth of stuff from them.you would think they would show good service to a good customer,NOT.i guess their flow claims are just marketing ploys to get you to buy their sh*t.the next one i do will have B-1 heads! i would do it now but i already have my custom pistons, manifold, and new 1.7 jessels, that wont do crap for theese heads, since the flow drops so much between .700 to .800. big azz waste of money.......

It would payoff too in the long run if Indy would pay someone with a personality to sit at a desk and answer the phone.

Check the valve seat to bowl area- they leave alot there as shipped from what I have seen and there usually is short side radius cleanup-

found the problem with the flow.i had my flow bench operator talk to dwayne of porter racing heads.the operator did not put the bolt for the jessel stands in the hole that is in the port.that is what caused the high swirl, and low flow numbers.with the bolt in, the swirl was almost half!
    the new numbers are:

    .100 68.2
    .200 124
    .300 174
    .400 236.4
    .500 306.6
    .600 357.2
    .700 376.5
    .800 388.9

exhaust was 304@.800 with a 2" by 4" tube.i will use a 2 1/8 2 1/4 step header.he said the exhaust flow might go up with the larger header size.
theese numbers are untouched, the way i got them from indy. i might be able to get alittle more with some minor port clean up,but im going to leave them alone.its just a street car anyway.thanks for all the replies, and help.
