It seemed like a good Idea at the time!
Being a rookie to this Mopar stuff and getting my first motor done I think ,,,UHHH KNOW that I did some silly, funcky or just plain stupid things that seemed like a good Idea at the time. If you Post Here You might need to set your pride aside, but who knows, you might save someone a huge head ache.
It seemed like a good Idea at the time to put a couple coats of RustOlium High Temp. clean Coat over the Mopar engine paint. Motor looked so partty and shinny. Well during the break in the motor got pretty hot and burnt the clear coat,,,it made the motor look like a sheet of burnt brownies. I thought the worse, but later after all seemed good I took a gentle wire brush to the block and some of the stuff just flacked right off and under it was,,,,,turquoise paint!
I've clean it all up and I'm going to give it another round of Mopar Engine Paint---AND NO FRIGGING CLEAR COAT!!!!

Not only no,,,but Hell No! Got her all cleaned up and wiped down with a paint prep and I've started to repaint the motor back to it's beautiful Turquoise Green. Yea,,,live and learn.Originally Posted by plumcrazy
