The MoparStyle Community is free for anyone to use. Some of the revenue to pay the expenses comes from advertising, Sponsor Vendors, and Premium Membership upgrades (FOR PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP -- PLEASE USE PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS IN YOUR UserCP INSTEAD OF THE TIP CAN). This tip can is an effort to help collect what we're still a little short on. If you have a spare $5 or more to help with the expenses, and you feel like this community has been worth it -- this tip can is the place to give that help.
MoparStyle has grown tremendously since its creation January, 1, 2002, and we thank all of you for being a part of this growing Mopar community. In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the Staff Members.
If You Need Help
99.44% of the complaints with logging onto the site, staying logged onto the site or the speed of the site has been an issue on the member's side -- and not with MoparStyle's site or server.
That's means that if you are having problems -- there is going to be a solution and we're willing to help you.
The very first thing you should do is to visit the Help forum and there is an excellent chance that the solution is right there.
If the answer is not there, then post your problem as a new thread in the Help forum, and give the URL (cut and paste from the address line of your browser), what browser your are using, and a detailed description of the problem -- including the exact error message you might be receiving. Make the title of the thread clear and appropriate. Remember, almost every problem is the result of the user's computer, firewall, company blocking, user's ISP, etc. You will look very silly taking an accusing position -- and it is shown to be your system that needed to be adjusted.
If you cannot login to post the problem -- then (and only then) email the Moderators at helpme@moparstyle.com giving the information asked for above.
Be patient -- there is going to be a solution.
General Rules
While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.
Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.
When replying to post containing photos -- please spare the rest of us having to go through the loading again of those photos -- by removing them from your reply.
Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum, email, visitor messages, blog comments, picture comments and private message systems to spam other members.
Please wait a reasonable amount of time before bumping posts. For style changes and general 'how-to' questions this should be 24 hours. For specific troubleshooting issues, use 12 hours as a guideline.
Do NOT post complaints about forum staff, warnings/infractions/bans, or site policies. Direct these matters to any Moderator privately via PM and allow time for them to respond
Please welcome all newcomers with friendly advice about how to find info & resources and help them get involved in our community - If you can't be friendly, please be quiet
Begin a new thread only if the subject matter has not already been posted. Like threads may be merged w/o notice
No cross-posting: Do not post the same thread in multiple forum sections. Duplicate threads will be merged or deleted
Do NOT create a thread that is intended, or likely, to incite inflammatory responses, such as complaints against another member or competing board
Title new threads in a meaningful way so that the subject is obvious and easily searched. The key to others locating information in the future depends upon it
Do not post using all caps, or all bold, font: this is the equivalent to shouting and is difficult to read
We also do not allow posts or links to sites that are sexual in nature or violate MoparStyle community standards. The MoparStyle team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
We will not tolerate blatant adverts or the sort of 'ooh look, yet another bulletin board' threads. Also, we would appreciate it if you refrain from blatant bashing of other boards.
We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.
Posts arguing about MoparStyle policies are not allowed. You can PM any Moderator if you have an issue with MoparStyle policies.
Posts discussing moderator actions are also not allowed.
Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
You cannot post advertisements or notices for contests.
We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules, as access to our forums are a privilege and not a right.
Member's Garage
Based on their level of membership, each member is entitled to use the Members Garage, by entering their Mopar with photos. Registration and log-ins cross all four sites of the Forums, Free Classified Ad Site, MoparWiki, and Member's Garage. That's to say the member need only log in once to move between all four areas.
The use of the Member's Garage is subject to the below:
Upload only the best of the photos of your mopar, as the magazines often visit and contact members about a photo feature of their car. MoparStyle would like to put its best foot forward and continue to have these magazines return. A poor photo or a poor car is a poor reflection on MoparStyle.
These photos are then available for members to use in their posts with the [img] command
Report any suspicious entry to the Moderators to investigate.
Advertising Services & Solicitations
Our Supporting Vendors pay a fee to sponsor the forum; in return, they have exclusive rights to advertise their goods and services to our membership and we expect all non-sponsors to respect that exclusivity.
We encourage our members to think of your forum sponsors FIRST when shopping for goods and services or when recommending them to others!
We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds or donations. Explicit advertising and soliciting in signatures is also prohibited.
Offers of goods or services of any kind for a price are considered advertising and discussion of any kind about your company/products/services is considered self-promotion. Such advertising/promotion is NOT permitted unless you are a Supporting Vendor sponsor
Members MAY discuss products offered by a Non-Supporting Vendor as a general sharing post only. If, in our judgment, it appears as though you are advertising on behalf of a N/S vendor, your post/thread may be edited or deleted and subject to warning/infraction:
A member MAY post "I found a great product/service/price from Joe's Parts" including details -That is sharing general info based on your personal experience
That member may NOT add to the post "Joe's Parts said forum members get a special deal" -OR- "call Joe at 555-123-4567” or “check out this link and tell them I sent you" -That is promoting/advertising on behalf of the N/S vendor and/or the N/S vendor using you to promote/advertise on their behalf to circumvent vendor rules
Members may NOT promote goods and/or services purchased from a fellow member who is not a Supporting Vendor by naming that member in posts, openly referring other members to him/her, or making statements such as "PM for more info". This will also be considered advertising on behalf of a N/S vendor and/or the N/S vendor using you to advertise on their behalf to circumvent vendor rules
If a member makes multiple posts/threads about a same NSV it will appear he/she is associated with, or advertising for, that vendor and the member will be warned. The line is thin and we will use our judgment as to when that line is being crossed
Members may NOT post links to sales-related ads/ threads/ posts on outside Forums and may NOT post copies of those ads/ posts/ threads to this Forum. Those posts will be removed and subject to warning/infraction/ban.
Supporting Vendor Group Buys are permitted but can ONLY be posted by an official Supporting Vendor. Members may not initiate, post, or manage Group Buys, nor post threads to generate interest in a GB. All business must be conducted by the Supporting Vendor. Any member interested in getting a sponsored GB together must contact the supporting vendor of their choice to make a request. It will then be the vendor’s choice to proceed or decline.
NON-Supporting Vendor Group Buys, promotions, and special offers are NOT permitted to be promoted, posted, or linked to, by any member
Please observe the following additional guidelines:
Do not post links to vendor or sales-related posts/threads on outside forums
Do not promote goods or services purchased from a fellow member who is not a Supporting Vendor
Do not solicit orders, Group Buys, referrals, or business of any kind for, or on behalf of, a non-supporting vendor
Do not list business links or contact info in posts / avatars / signatures unless you are an official Supporting Vendor
Do not post, answer questions about, defend, promote, or advertise side line or hobby goods and/or services you provide – This includes solicitations such as “PM me for more info”
Do not post, answer questions about, defend, promote, or advertise your company’s services, products, projects, or related events
Free Classified Ads
Based on their level of membership, each member is entitled to use the Free Classified Ad site, by placing an appropriate ad in the appropriate category. Registration and log-ins cross all four sites of the Forums, Free Classified Ad Site, MoparWiki, and Mopar Garage. That's to say the member need only log in once to move between all four areas.
The placing of Classified Ads is subject to the below:
Both private and Mopar Vendor (selling a Mopar Product or service) advertisements are allowed to place appropriate ads in the appropriate category. Spamming by vendors not selling a Mopar product or service will not be allowed -- and those doing so will be banned from the site.
You may not place an ad if you are outside the US or Canada -- unless you have more than 500 posts.
No ads to other Mopar web sites.
No Porn, illegal products or services, political, controversial, vulgar, or hateful ads will be allowed.
MoparStyle will not be responsible for any ad placed in the Free Classified Ads, and warns everyone to use best practices with transactions -- and trust no one. There are many common scams carried out on the Internet, so verify. Interbank Wire Transfers are the most secure form of funding on large ticket items. There is such a thing as a counterfeit Cashier's Check.
Report any suspicious ads to the Moderators to investigate.
Avatars
Animated avatars are not allowed. Sorry.
Avatars that may be confused with official staff avatars are not allowed.
Socially acceptable and work-safe avatars only.
No political, religious, or adult/sexual content or language.
Non-conforming avatars will be removed w/o notice
Signatures
All signatures should not exceed the following limits
Signatures/ user names/ avatars must be work-safe and socially acceptable. Although members have the option to disable them, they are always visible to guest readers. For members who prefer not to view signatures, there is an option to turn them off in the User CP
Over-sized signatures are inconsiderate and may be removed. You can help avoid removal if you create an entry of your car in the Mopar Garage, and then link to it in your signature. To further the 'less is best' philosophy, please note that the software may limit signatures to only appear in your first post on any given thread page.
Following are general Sig guidelines - You may be asked to remove signatures that do not conform to these guidelines, it may be limited by the software, or it may be removed by staff without notice:
Images: Sig photo MAX 500W x 200H (pixels). If using more than one photo, please resize to collectively (as in all of them) fit within this 500W x 200H footprint
Text: If you include an image in your sig, please limit text to 2 lines
For text only signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size and up to 90 chars per line. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed. (Blank lines count as lines.)
Do not use images with large text to bypass the previous item
Links in signatures should not contain the following
Only Supporting Vendors may contain a link to a web site that sells a product or service
No signature may contain a link to another Mopar board or forum
No links to sites containing hateful, controversial, pornographic, or illegal material
MoparWiki
Based on their level of membership, each member is entitled to use the MoparWiki. The MoparWiki Project has the goal of being the World's best informationbase for all things Mopar. As done with Wikipedia, this is accomplished with a collaborative effort of many Mopar Enthusiasts. Registration and log-ins cross all four sites of the Forums, Free Classified Ad Site, MoparWiki, and Member's Garage. That's to say the member need only log in once to move between all four areas.
Please consider participating, but look into the instructions on the site prior to jumping in, as we're trying to keep a consistent format.
Moderation
Although the administrators and moderators of MoparStyle will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and MoparStyle will not be held responsible for the content of any message.
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.
While there is rarely a need to use it, there is an established system in place where Moderators can give a member a "Yellow Card" or "Red Card" for the more serious or repeated violations of these rules. At a certain level, a member is automatically banned for a week, month, year, or even permanently -- based on the degree of his violations. The member (and only the member and the Moderators) can view his status regarding these violations in his UserCP.
The Staff of MoparStyle reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
Disputes With MoparStyle's Staff or Rules
Any disputes with the staff of MoparStyle will be handled in private through the Private Message System. Posting your disputes publically will get the member a "Yellow Card", the first time, and a "Red Card" the second time.
Disclaimer
The content of posts and/or threads is the sole responsibility of the user who posted them and all users are responsible for their own actions. Sellers on this site are in no way related to, or affiliated with, the forum or its agents. This site does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee products, services, or transactions between users, or between users and Supporting Vendors.
Addendum
We reserve the right to update and modify these rules as the needs of the community dictate to ensure the smooth operation of this community.
We want all of our members to enjoy their time here. While some may feel the rules to be restrictive, they are there to provide a Mopar Community for the good of the majority, who don't wish to visit a community less than friendly, or with a bunch of people spamming or griping. These rules for the majority of the people to have thus far registered to post -- are more common sense than restrictive.
Those who refuse to abide by these policies are asked to find a venue that suits them better, rather than create problems for our members and staff --Thank you!
