Default Anyone have a fender tag decoder for 1980-1995 Mopars?

We have fender tag decoders for years prior to that, but does anyone have a decoder for 1980-1995 Mopars? Please let us know if you do, if someone out there has the factory service manuals for any of those years, they probably have the codes listed. Thanks

Most of the codes are not in the factory service manuals, though there is a little info on some areas of the fender tag. The best source is to find a broadcast sheet for one of those years as the codes and the meanings are printed on the back. 1984 saw the three letter codes in place of the one letter plus two number codes (like AHB for a police package instead of the A38 code used before 1984). I used to have a broadcast sheet from a 1988 LeBaron I used just for this purpose.

thanks, praying the broadcast sheet is under a seat or behind the glovebox, this car is a prototype so no telling where it is.

Any car of the same year will have all the codes listed on the back fro that year, so finding one in a junkyard car can help you out though the sheets seemed to get less common in the cars as the years went on.

"UPDATE" The broadcast sheet was found under the carpet on the passenger side, but was destroyed. But the good news is we got some info from our local dealer, and now can decode all fender tags/vins from 1982 on up, and according to this Fender Tag, it has a few codes not listed which can be expected since it was actually built in 1986. But the code for the transmission is DGB, if you look up the code DGB in the Dealer book for replacement transmissions it says this:

DGB is a rear wheel drive version of the torqueflite!!! But when we first got the vehicle it had an A601 trans, not a A604 4 speed or a A606 three speed but an A601! This car is very unique and we cannot wait to finish it.

Default I may have a contact for you

Hey I thyin i know of someone who can help with all of those data tag codes. He is like the Galen Govier of the fwd drive cars. He generally hangs out on the Turbododge.com website his user name is NAJ, he decoded the entire tag from a picture I sent him for 1990 Daytona VNT car. He used to be or still is in the service department of a Chrysler dealership and had access to all of that information. Hope this helps.

Well we have wholesale accts. with a five star dealer here in NC and in a few others in other states, and we have just now received all the vin and fender tag decoding tools for all Mopars 1982 and up. But we appreciate the help. But if anyone needs vins or fender tags decoded from 1982 on up we can do it. On this car we are restoring it was a 1986 prototype, and when we ran the fender tag we came up with all sorts of extra stuff. Some of it I knew of from the past. One year I went to the dealer where the car came from, the same dealer who eventually tried to buy it back, and asked for touchup paint for the car. This was back in 1992. I gave them the paint codes off the fender tag, and they then asked me if they were correct and I said yes, this car is painted NightHawk Blue Metallic/Pearl. Later on found out that color isn't even a Chrysler listed color. We did find out that I believe it is Honda or Yamaha that has that color. So when we get to the painting stage it will be awesome. When the car was in its new stage, if you walked by at night the car would look almost black til you got in the light and it would look like a bright blue.
