        Does a 318 and 360 look the same?

          Pretty close. Most of the time VINs help you out. Same color stock, same size for the most part, different driver's side motor mount, different balancer, different casting #s. I check casting #s by crawling under the car. No lift, no jack, no nothing to worry about. Just wiggle under, check, then wiggle out. (wiggling out is the hard part)

              Nice car but you would have to swap the 318 for a 5.9 magnum!!! I notice this one doesn't have the Cordoba style body.

                It actually does. Started in '75 I think. '74 was the last year of the pre-'doba Bs. There's been a '75 for a while in a field with an E58 for $500. Can't remember title/not, but that's a find.

                    75-76 there were actually 2 "Chargers"; That one is the same as the 2 dr Fury or Coronet, because it is NOT a Charger SE; Only the Charger SE was the "Cordoba body".

                      Ah. I thought they were somewhat based off the Cordoba body.

                          Yeah, there are 2 different body styles as we have a '75 SE and it is pretty much Cordoba!

                            Actually it is 1976 only.
                            In 1975 the car was a 2 door Coronet.
                            In 1976 it was a Charger or Charger Sport.
                            In 1977 it was a 2 door Monaco.
                            All the same basic car, three different names.
                            Same basic underbody as the Cordoba based Charger SE (and Charger Daytona) but quite different styling.

                            As for how to tell a 318 from a 360 by looking at the engine shot, the big clue is the air cleaner. The 360 has a larger air cleaner than the 318-2 and there was no 318-4 back then. The angle makes it hard to tell for sure but it looks like a 360 air cleaner.

                            I'd be interested in knowing what makes it 1 of 500. These cars weren't common, but unless someone has engine production figures I can't see it being as rare as he says it is.

                              '76 only? I had a dealer brochure on the Charger from '75 Model Year and it showed both bodies avail in 75. also I had a 76 SE, (1st car!) and knew people back in the day that had 2 dr 76 Coronets too. Both body styles were avail as the "Charger" both years;

                              Whichever one you prefer; at least they still only had 2 doors, unlike the current abomination they pass off as a "Charger"; That fact alone, will guarantee that I will never own what is currently badged as a "charger". but I definitely hope to again own at least 1 more Charger, that was built between 66 and 78. maybe even more.
