  • AMC Pacer's finer points.

Since the Pacer was brought up about being the worse car and then some saying it wasn't....lets talk about some of it's finer points. The car was built to be aerodynamic and it was except for it ended up with head light pods on the hood which raised it's coefficient of drag. Anyone know why pods ended up on it? Also, the passenger door was longer than the driver's door. Made for better ease of entry and exit to and from the rear seat from the curb. The car does not have any issues with blind spots because of all the glass and the thin pillars. Also, the car was designed around an engine that was not ready to go into production when the Pacer was ready for it. What engine was that?

My mom's was the Pacer X.. Had wood grain panels on the side and after 10000 miles the wood grain started peeling off. I made use of the large back area.. Folded those seats down and watched the submarine races down at the beach.....

..besides being the only transportation I was allowed to drive and take the ladies out...I couldn't complain ... Had more room that the Super Beetle

How about UFO races?? Every once in awhile I would go out with a ding bat and she would ask what we were gonna do and I would say go to the submarine races...they never put 2&2 together... So I then started to tell them UFO.. Some didn't have a clue..
