I am looking at this 1https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dcc-3690874/overview/make/dodge , but to be honest . Do I really need 1 ? Are they that big of safety net for your engine build ?

If you're building a race engine, you need one. I'm tying to remember the must use requirement, and I think its if a roller cam motor.

I thought I read something about camshaft being mechanical. I'm guessing that is for a solid lifter cam . Can anyone verify the difference ?
