In 78-79 the ser# the X stands for Magnum. Well before that it stood for Charger, the Magnum replaced it So it was called the Magnum X=Charger Edition. So I've been told, about 20 years ago.

MAgnums came in two lettered badges, XE and GT.

Actually only really one! The GT was a package on the Magnum XE, If you look closely to GT's they still had XE on the interior doors and steering wheel. Only the fender badges were different. There all XE's.


The GT package:
Dodge Magnum XE w/A75 package
A75=
Dual exhaust
Rallye dash
Rallye wheels
Fender Flares (these could be deleted)
I think some suspension parts like sway bars also.
and the GT disc in fenders replaces te XE


All other options were available on the XE's


(X= Charger) Edition / Grand Touring package.
