With the university closed yesterday due to the winter wonderland, I had a lot of time to waste and came up with an idea. How much interest is there in attending a FMJ meet/show and even a little 1/8 mile drag racing in summer 2011?
I might be able to set up such an event on a Sunday at KD Dragway in South Webster, Ohio in 2011. South Webster is about 90 miles south of Columbus and 100 miles east of Cinci. Here's there website http://www.kddragway.com/ It's a mom-and-pop strip, so don't expect a lot of amenities (They sell hot dogs, chips, and soda). Motels like Super 8 and Holiday Inn are 20 miles away.
I envision a Show and Shine with a few trophies, a short cruise through the hills of southern Ohio, and time-trial passes down the strip (Maybe an actual bracket race if there are enough registrants).
I guess the cost may be around $50 for car and driver and $7-$10 for spectators.
Please let me know if you would be inclined to come to such an event. If there is enough interest, I'll start talking with the folks at the track.
maybe have a price with strip access incl, another price just to "hang out" with your car.
For those not wanting to take their car down the strip, $50 just to park and bench race, w/o some other "draw", is a bit much! Most car shows/cruises etc that charge to enter are $10-15 the "better" ones are sometimes ~$20, but other than a "world of wheels" type thing, $50? I would not wanna drive from 2 states away then cost $50 just to sit and BS with others that have interest in the same kind of car.
Last year at Power Tour, it was $25/venue or $70 to register at them all, in "early registration", whether you went to 1 or all. so if you were gonna go 3 or more stops it was cheaper to register for the Long haul.

Price of $50 was just a starting point based on what I estimated the track needs to pull in to make a little profit if 20-25 cars show up, I'm certain the cost will be less and yours is a good idea to have a different price for strip access and show, hopefully something like $30-$50 for racing (the usual cost for it at KD); $10-$25 for show entry. At this point I just need to know the level of interest before I approach the owners of KD to see what they need.
IF I get my car done by then, count me in. If NOT, then maybe I could haul it down there, and the other F body guys chip in and help in the completion of it "Overhaulin" style.
I can see it; car on 1 trailer with truck full of parts and camping gear, Cherokee following with a 2nd trailer full of more parts, tools etc.
