Default Anti Rust Additive 4 Race Car Cooling System

I use distilled water & Water Wetter but the rust is still an issue.May not be as bad this year since i have a new rad but i know the block is going to throw the rust back at me again.Anything else out there i can add,RACE ONLY so no anti freeze.

Water pump lubricant and rust inhibitor. How long has the engine been together and was it 'boiled' out when it was going to be rebuilt? The old style caustic vats won't remove rust and most of the new cleaning techniques do better but they still don't get out all of it. Only elbow grease will do the job the best. A buddy of mine made a short radiator hose tube with a screen in it to catch rust particles but you have to keep a close eye on temps because once it's full, water flow virtually stops and you can over heat quickly but it does protect the radiator from getting clogged with rust.

Wasted a new water pump because of not enough lubrication in the water. Did it twice. Thought I had a bad pump the first time....

That's one of the other problems, water pump seizure.
I've had the engine together for 1 yr and it was cleaned at the machine shop before i built it.But every year when i drain the block i have to poke something into the drain after i remove the plugs because of all the crap the builds up in there.I usually flush it at the start of the year but not running any anti freeze is hard on the block/water pump and then plugs up my rad.

What do you suggest for the lube? It would get way expensive to replace my waterpump once, none the less twice.

Haven't checked in a long time but a few years ago you could buy water pump lube additive....same for rust inhibitor. In the south, there's really no need to run antifreeze. Temps hit the mid/high 20's this winter here but even that isn't enough to crack a block and antifreeze isn't exactly cheap anymore and straight water (with the inhibitors) cools better than a 50/50 mix does.
