New Groups Feature For Off Mopar Topic Discussions
New Groups Feature For Off Mopar Topic DiscussionsI'll be closing the Off Topic Forums very soon (days) as we're going to start using the Groups for what they're designed for, and keep the Forums strictly On Topic to Mopar.
I know many of you might initially think that this is a bad thing, as is represents change - but this will really be better for many reasons.
If you belong to Facebook, you'll most likely belong to many groups dedicated to the topics that interest you, and those Group posts show up in your News Feeds. Well it works the same way here at MoparStyle. Any member can create a group on a subject that interests them, and that group can be Public (any member can see and join), Private (any member can see the group exists, but the not posts until accepted as member), and Secret (unseen by general public, and by invitation only). Once you belong to a Group, those posts (and only posts from those Groups) show up in your Newsfeed when you click on to the "Off Topic Groups" tab in the top Navbar. Please make groups Public for most topics, and create in the applicable category.
In the sidebar of the Home Page (the page when you click the Forums tab in Navbar) will have a listing of Non-Secret Groups that you can join. Join the ones you wish, and don't join the ones whose posts you rather not see. Create a Group for an interest that you see missing - if you're prepared to administer and moderate it. For Instance, Padre (Magnumguy) should create a group called the "MoparStyle Chapel" in the Religion category, for discussions, Prayer Requests, and Daily Inspirational Messages.
So while it will be a few days from now before I close the Off Topic Forums to new posts, Please start using the Groups starting now - and please keep an open mind and positive attitude with this change. If y'all do that, I promise you will ultimately see that this will work out a ton better.

Images make posts more interesting! We don't host images at MoparStyle because doing so bloats the already large database (from many years of posts), which would make the site backups or restores take too long; plus it puts an increased load on the server - which would slow response time. By having you hosting your images on another server our site runs faster and offers us a better disaster recovery option. However, there are many free and easy image host options for hosting your photos and images, so that you can display them into your posts and signature. Once your image is hosted, you click the little camera icon in the post and paste the URL of the location of the actual image. You can generally get that actual location by right-clicking on the image. I leave my photo album open with the forums, and it only takes me another couple of seconds to post and image - once I got the hang of it. The image hosting options fall into three Catagories. Bad, Good, and Best. BAD Hot linking an image from a site that is not an actual image host is a bad idea for many reasons. One reason is permission. You are using their server's bandwith and server resources, and many don't like it. Some have hot link protection where after some designated period of time the picture gets replaced with another image from a simple "No Hot Linking Allowed" to something pornagraphic. Even if you know they won't be pissed or have hot link protection, you are at the mercy on how long they will keep the photo on their server. Another bad idea is linking a photo from your Facebook album. After a very short period of time the photo is no longer available to link. Likewise, don't hotlink photos from Ebay and Craig's List for same reasons. Those photos disappear and your threads become an annoyance. When you go to a post having missing images or Red Xs, the poster used a Bad Option. Please don't do that as it is annoying and moderators will delete the thread. GOOD (Free) There are many Free Web Image Host sites. A few common ones are: Photo Bucket Image Shack Google Photos Flickr And there are a ton of others. I personally have never used any of them as I've always preferred the Best Option, so the exact process of using them is unknown to me - but this is what they're designed for, millions use them just for this, and I'm sure they make them easy to use. While the good part is that they're free and work, the bad news is that there's advertising popping up, you might see a big increase of being spammed when your email address is sold, the size and quality of your photos might be compromized by file compression, your total file size will be limited, ability to bulk uload via FTP doesn't exist, categorizing is limited, and there's always a chance they might someday go to a fee basis. All that said, it is a good option for photos you want to share in posts - but I'd never use it to upload my life's worth of important to me photos for off-site protection. Best The option I've used for the last fifteen years is professional photo hosting dedicated to only me! This use to be expensive, where I would have my own server and pay about $250 (plus $35 yr ...10-15-2016, 08:34 PM
First off you have to realize that there are now Four very separate areas of MoparStyle, all represented with a tab.

- Mopar Topic is obviously for the topics regarding Mopar cars and trucks. When you are in that area, there is an index in the right sidebar for those threads, sorted by last reply, or vote the case of a poll. The reason for not combining on and off topic threads is that there are a high percentage of people who will only come to a Mopar site for Mopar posts, and feel so offended
Today MoparStyle was upgraded to the newest version of VB Connect - Version 5.24.
There was also a new style series added called Whale Coming. There are about a dozen color combinations each using the below graphic.
To change your Style, go to the Northeast corner of the page and Click your User Name. Then click User Settings from drop down menu, and then click the account tab. You'll then see that one of the options is to change your Viewing...10-14-2016, 08:59 PM
I thought Id set up the new forum software to where Unregistered Members/Guests and Members whom we're waiting for their email confirmation could vote in polls. I was just informed that those trying to vote could not.
The problem has been found and fixed.
While giving Guest's the ability to participate in polls benefits MoparStyle, we still don't allow Guests to post as that would open the site to a lot of spam. To register to post only takes a minute, and we've always...10-04-2016, 12:10 PM
I spent my Sunday watching Football and Drag Racing, while also creating and adjusting 35+ different Viewing Skins For MoparStyle.
You try these different skins by going to the Southwest corner on any page of this site and select a viewing skin from the drop down menu.
Please feel free to comment on the skins you like, and the ones you hate, so I can get an idea on what the average member wants to see more of....10-03-2016, 10:50 AM
As the administrator, I'm given a different view of what other members have of the site. There are often times where everything looks as if it is working to me, but not to the other members. If no one says anything to me, then I'll never know. So if something doesn't look right to you, please say something to me by creating a thread in the Non-Mopar Topic Group called Suggestions. Be specific with as much detail of the problems as possible.
While on the subject of groups,...09-17-2016, 03:52 PM
