Angry Power Tour 2009 - More of The Same!

Sigh. Usually we don't get crappy weather until at least day two! It's been cold, RAINY, and just miserable. Spent only about two hours or so at the Madison venue. Just not a good time when you're getting rained on and it's in, maybe, the 60s. Well, I guess I've got a great heater!

Had to put a full charge on the battery before leaving home. I thought those gel batteries were more sturdy, but apparently running my clock all winter was too much.

I swear, EVERY season I take this car out it's like I never drove her before. I'm such a fumbler for where all the buttons are; lights, wipers, etc. I don't know how many times I've turned the flashers on when needing lights. DOH.

Every Power Tour is marked by the "what went wrong" adventure. Every year is my hope of the "NO adventure" tour. Well, we'll have to wait until the next one I guess. Today I have to have ANOTHER neutral safety switch installed! I think this is the THIRD one since I've owned this car. What the heck eats these things? The only good thing (if there is such a thing) is that they're cheap. I thought I packed my speed jack, but now find I'm without so I'll go to the Racine stop and see if the GM guys will lend a hand.

Looking forward to meeting up with OBS in Detroit and spending some quality time in the Motor City with a jaunt to the casino in Windsor before we pack it in for the week.

Ran into some fellow Mopar folks at registration along with some others that I've met in the past. The rain does suck, but the folks you encounter along the way are the true sunshine of the tour.

Kismgby,
There is a couple from Coon Valley (LaCrosse) that are running the tour. Kevin Buckles driving a 1969 Coronet 500 4 door bronze metallic with some R/T parts on it. He is a really nice guy and can help out with any and all on the car. He is a body man but is good with all concerning these cars. If you run into him tell him I said hi! I am not positive he made it to the tour but he was intending to go.

Glenn

Maybe the NS switches are all made in China these days?? After a couple messed up on my old cars, I just got to where I grounded the relay. After that, it'll start in any gear so if you have a tendency to not put your car in park when you shut if off, don't do that. I actually found that I liked being able to start up in gear!
Hope the rest of your trip goes well.

if it happens again pop the yellow wire off of your starter relay and ground the terminal to the chassis. it'll bypass it. we had so much trouble in the past with the B5 bird that I keep a jumper wire bolted to the brake booster support plate just in case!

I knew there was a reason why I love you guys.
OBS called today to make sure I was still sane, Thanx.
South Bend was a nice venue...until the storm rolled in and I bailed. How cool are you sitting in your car in the rain? Not very. So I went to the Studebaker museum. What a great little spot to spend a few hours! Some great examples and I learned a thing or two. Met up with some new wing car people from the area. One fellow is restoing a 'tona and hopes to make it to T'ga later this year. A few visitors stopped by to chat and tell me they had friends with winged things. Just happy to see fellow Mopar family. Tomorrow it's Detroit and having one of my dearest friends meet OBS and my "other life" as a car gal. This could get frightening.
BTW, thanks for the tips on the NSS. It's my hope to make it back home and trade this swap for helping out a friend install his new tranny and muffler system. We all can use some helping hands at times. Until tomorrow.....

Wow, sounds like a fun day! Except for the storm passing though, of course.

Motor easy and see ya later today!
