Default BIN $84,900 Project Superbird! #'s mtch 440 6-pak

Up for auction is an extremely rare numbers matching 1970 Plymouth Superbird 440 6-pak project car. This car is a great car for restoration. As you can see in the pictures the car has the normal rust in the rear quarters and other body panels. The floor pans are in excellent condition with no visible rust. The trunk pan is also very good but does have a couple small areas of rust. It is repairable and doesn't appear that it will need a new trunk pan, some small patches should take care of it. What yellow paint that is still on the car is the original Lemon Twist that it left the factory with. As you can tell the car was disassembled and some restoration procedures started. Just to clarify, this car is a true Lemon Twist bird that still has it's original born with numbers matching 440 6-pak engine, it's original numbers matching torqueflite automatic transmission, and did come from the factory with bucket seats, floor console and floor shift. There has already been lots of money spent on the interior of the car. The seats were all torn down, the frames and springs were sandblasted, powder coated gloss black and fitted with new Legendary seat covers. They are finished and ready to use. The car also comes with a new headliner, new front door panels still in the Legendary boxes, new rear side panels, still in the box, new rear package tray and new carpet. The stainless for the back glass and wide front pillar post has already been polished and is ready to install. The dash and dash pad are in excellent original condition and will just need removed and detailed. All of the glass is in excellent shape. The wheels on the car are the original rally's that have been blasted, powder coated and fitted with brand new correct polyglass tires. The trim rings are originals that are in great shape and the center caps are brand new NOS pieces that are still in the box. There are several other miscellaneous items that are new that also come with the car, some suspension pieces, new decals and a new fender tag. The original fender tag is currently on the car but has some pitting. A new one also goes with the car. There was no build sheet found in the disassembling of the car but the original authentic window sticker does come with the car. It is old and fragile but is in excellent readable condition. This Superbird was sold new at Dameron Motor Sales in Farmington MI and still carries the original dealer sticker on the rear bumper. Just to hit a few of the items on the window sticker: Factory Lemon Twist Yellow, 440 6-pak, automatic trans, bucket seats, console, black vinyl top, AM radio, p/s, power disc brakes, factory undercoating, rally wheels, dual exterior mirrors and Tach. I know that there are lots of item that people with have questions on so feel free to email with questions and I will do my best to answer. The car is available for inspection. I also have around 100 pictures of the car that can be emailed to serious buyers. As far as transportation goes, the engine and trans are out of the car and the rest of the parts are neatly arranged in the car. The car shows no signs of ever being in any kind of wreck. This is truely a great piece to start working with. A picture of the window sticker can be emailed to seriours buyers. I do require a $2,000.00 deposit with in 3 days of purchase and entire transaction to be completed with in 7 days. Shipping is responsability of the buyer but I will help with what I can. I do know that the original distributor and exhaust manifolds are missing. Thanks for looking

Default pistol grip hemi sbird with 16k miles

if only i had a rich uncle this one would be in my garage.

At its peak in 1970, the competition between musclecars even reached into the interdivisional arena within the manufacturers, especially at Chrysler. Plymouth acolytes bristled when Dodge introduced the winged Daytona in 1969, and with high profile racers like Richard Petty signaling their desire for a similar weapon, Plymouth responded with the fabulous Superbird. Two 440 engines and the 426 Hemi were made available in the ‘Bird, but only 58 Hemi 4-speed cars were produced.

The 1970 Plymouth Superbird offered here is one of those 58 Hemi 4-speeds, a very rare and special car indeed, made all the more so by having won three of the most prestigious awards possible for a Mopar. Finished in Alpine White with the requisite Black vinyl roof and matching Black interior, it has accumulated only 16,342 actual miles and ranks as one of the finest restored Superbirds in existence. Its original equipment includes the Hemi-rated New Process four-speed manual transmission with Hurst Pistol-Grip shifter, console, bucket seats, tachometer and gauges, tinted glass, dual side-view mirrors, power steering, power disc brakes and a 3.54 Dana rear end.

The superb quality of the car’s restoration was formally recognized with OE Silver Certification at the 2002 Mopar Nationals, where it was also awarded the highly coveted “Big Daddy’s Choice” award, proffered by drag racing legend and Mopar godfather “Big Daddy” Don Garlits. In 2003 it was voted “Best Muscle Car” at the prestigious Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, signifying this car’s status as possibly the finest restored Plymouth Superbird in the world.

Highlights:

- One of 58 Hemi 4-speed 1970 Superbirds
- Alpine White with Black top and Black interior
- 16,342 actual miles
- One of the finest restored Superbirds in existence
- OE Silver Certification and “Big Daddy’s Choice” Award, 2002 Mopar Nationals
- “Best Muscle Car”, 2003 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance

The reserve is said to be 269k. It won't have any trouble beating that, for sure.
