Here is what the rebuilder told me of his work on the car:
"1972 Dodge Demon 340 - ground up 16 year restoration! Everything in and on this car is new or restored to the original build.
Exterior - Body media blasted down to bare metal then sealed and painted base coat clear coat FE5 Bright Rally Red, new bumpers, new pin striping, black hood stripe with dual snorkel scoop, rear deck and side longitudinal stripes, all new factory badges. Restored grill is perfect and all new lighting installed. All glass is new AMD tinted glass with OEM polished chrome trim reinstalled. Left and right external rear view mirrors. Front grill surround chrome trim. Full underbody was undercoated by Auto Rust Technicians.
Wheels - Original 14" Small Bolt Rallye Rims restored with Argent Silver and all new center caps and correct NOS trim rings. Tires are brand new Cooper Cobra. Full rallye rim spare.
Interior - Completely removed and restored. New dash professionally restored with brand new cap. Instrument Cluster restored and repainted like new with all plastic re-chromed. Original AM/FM Radio. Restored heater core/box, steering column, clutch/brake pedal assembly, e-brake assembly, all wiring new. Front and rear seats are bench seats with Legendary seat covers and all new door panels. New headliner, package tray and carpet. OEM Seat Belts.
Engine - Complete rebuild of 1972 340 block (not original to car so NOT numbers matching - came out of a 72 Challenger) with Keith Black pistons bored .030 over. I have the build sheet details. It has a Holley carburetor and Edelbrock Intake. Entire engine is new inside, fuel pump, carburetor, water pump and painted OEM blue. All wiring under hood is new. Original exhaust manifolds ceramic coated and dual exhaust all the way back as original. Have dyno sheets for 300HP!
Steering/Suspension - Original manual steering with all new pitman arm, idler arm, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints. Upper control arms have new poly bushings installed. OEM Front sway bar with new sway bar links and bushings.
Transmission - original A230 3-speed rebuilt with new clutch and all new linkage and original 3 speed floor shifter.
Rear Axle - 8 3/4" Sure Grip Posi completely rebuilt with all new brakes and leaf springs. All painted with POR-15 Chassis Black. New Gas Shocks all around.
Brakes - Fronts are Kelsey-Hayes dual piston. All new! Rears are stock drums. All brake lines, hoses, p-valve and master are new.
This car is basically "better than new". Well over $40K invested."
I also bought a new Auto Zone battery, and a number of goodies (Demon key chain, license plate frame T-shirt, repair manual) that I will throw in for free.
