About 4 years ago, I was doing some bodywork on this car for a friend, Bill (I replaced the driver-side floor panel, as well as a big patch in the trunk and some other welding stuff). He had recently bought the car from another friend who had had it for around 10 years and it was that friend's daily driver. Bill had the engine rebuilt (318 and the original engine), had the car and dash re-painted and seats re-upholstered, but someone cut and removed the entire wiring harness at the paint shop, so the car was not running. While this was going on, he got brain and lung cancer, knew he was going to die and left the car to me. The car was now at my shop, but I had to wait about 2 years while the will was contested, etc. and I finally got full title to the car about 6 months ago. During that time, the car was in and out of my mechanic's shop. They replaced the wiring harness, rebuilt front suspension and brakes, checked the engine re-build and a ton of other stuff, but they couldn't figure out the push-button transmission. Mechanically, that's the only thing it needs at this point. That's what I've been told, but I'm not a mechanic. I've got nearly every nut, bolt and chrome piece that goes into this car, as well as extra emblems, headlight rims and taillight lenses. I am missing a few of the dash push-buttons.
In addition, it's had the following done to it. I may be repeating myself a bit:
~Engine rebuild inspected
~Located and painted master gasket set
~Hung front sheet metal
~Transmission run-through
~Rebuilt front suspension
~Located new radiator (not installed)
~Made patch for heater box
~Re-wired front end
~Preliminary fire-up
Body is straight and clean. Passenger-side front panel was dented and has been replaced. Current panel is in primer. I don't have any of the Interior door panels, headliner or carpeting. I do have all of the door handles, inside and out. Chrome is good and I believe I have all or 95% of the trim pieces. There is a bit of pitting beginning to appear on the rear bumper.
I've put $6000 into this car so far and I just can't put any more into it. I can't find anyone who knows how to deal with that transmission and I'm tired of getting the run-around from mechanics who have more grease in their hair than in their cars. Unfortunately, when Bill bought this car, it fell into the hands of some very incompetent mechanics and painters, otherwise it would have been on the road long ago. I have 2 businesses to run and I just can't afford to look after this car any more. I really want it to be in the hands of someone who knows and loves these cars and will take care of it properly, as my friend Bill would have wanted. I don't have a bottom price, but I'm willing to consider any offers.
There's alot going on with this car, so if you would like to call me with any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Basically, it's missing 1 or 2 push-buttons on the dash and my old mechanic couldn't figure out how to run the linkage from the transmission up to the dash, but other than that, it's ready to roll. Also, the dash has been re-painted and is complete but the rest of the interior is a bit rough. I have the seats and they've all been re-upholstered in red and white roll-and-tuck vinyl - never put in the car or used.
